THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL HOTTER THAN THE WEATHER (*tehe)

The weather has well and truly warmed up, and I am in heaven. I’ve been swimming before work in a crystal-clear, bluey-green ocean lake. I’ve been surfing after work. I’ve been out after dark without a jacket, and the air is warm. If you couldn’t tell, I guess I’m a summer girl. My happiness over the past month has truly skyrocketed.
During this season, I LOVE to wear minis—mini skirts, mini shift dresses, mini shorts. But sometimes, making the shift from jeans season to this can be a big WOW. AHH. my legs are so ... EEEK kind of feeling, if you get me. NEVERTHELESS, I love what I love and want to wear what I want to wear (and so should you, because f*** the old guys who stare), so minis and faking confidence it is.
Here are 4 ways I like to style my minis in the summer:

Ruched mini shorts and boots – I probably sound like a broken record by now, but this combo is my unmatched favourite trend of the whole 2024 fashion year. I love how cutesy they are, while also being easy to style for a cool-girl vibe or sexy-bexy look, if you really want. They just scream, “I’m literally just a girl,” and I’m so totally here for it. I like pairing this with a graphic tee and shoulder bag—the tee tones down the girly vibe and adds a bit of effortless, day-to-day energy that makes the combo more pub appropriate.

Mini dress and boots – This combo is fun for a girly brunch or cocktail hour. I especially love favouring a shift dress here, as the silhouette allows for lots of food and drinks to be had without your body feeling uncomfortable afterward. I love the mini length and usually pair it with a shoulder bag, sunnies, and a chilled red wine.

Boxer shorts and boots – The PJs (or PJ-vibe) in the daytime is perfection. I love how funny fashion trends are; they’ve convinced us that, yes, in fact, as long as they’re a cute pinstripe, it’s socially acceptable to wear a PJ set to an event. The baby blue, pink, or olive green pinstripe shorts are my faves. They look to-die-for comfortable while still being cute in a way that doesn’t feel too bed-ish. However, I’m a twenty-something living in Sydney, and I am strictly on a budget at all times. So, my dupes came from the Target menswear section. Yes, mine are, in fact, just men’s boxer shorts. I had a few of you fooled.

Mini skirt and boots – This one definitely makes me feel the cutesy-est. I have this vintage Tommy Hilfiger skirt I love to wear for this combo. I often wear it to the shops, running errands, or just for basic day-to-day things, with a tank, plaits in my hair, and a cap. It feels a bit noughties-esc which I like to dabble in here and there.
I will be wearing knee high boots for as long as I can struggle through the heat because if you can’t tell, they are my ride-or-die. What’re your fave boots and mini combos at the moment?
Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine !
With love,
Xx
