POV: you're literally just a girl,
Living in a city in your early twenties. Working hard, playing hard, and trying to look cute, chic, and like a modern bad-arse girly-pop, all while surviving on an entry-level salary. Look, maybe that's just me... but surely not?
Your early twenties are a great time to start thinking about your lifetime wardrobe. And while you might not have too much cashola to throw around, if you stick to a savings plan, you’ll be able to save enough to buy a few really nice lifetime pieces and still go out on Fridays.
I’m a firm believer that any wardrobe needs a base—or a blueprint. The colourful, trendy, experimental pieces come after your basics. Basics like a white tee are essential, but blueprint pieces, like a leather coat you might pass down to your kid one day, are where the magic happens. THIS is what I’m talking about when I mention your lifetime wardrobe.
By your twenties, I feel like you’ve had enough time to experiment with your style and figure out what you like (and don’t like). Of course, you’ll always be experimenting with fashion—that’s normal and super important. But finding a few stunning pieces for your blueprint and really investing in them when you can justify it as 'just being a girl' will make a huge difference later on.
Also, you’re going to look cute, so why the heck not?
Here are my recommendations for pieces to buy in your early twenties:
Hot tip: Don’t leave it at a party. You might not see it again.
Op shops and vintage stores are also great places to find one. Get one that fits you perfectly—it’s an investment, so treat it like one.
In the meantime, I’m very much in love with this one from SIR. Get one that’s only slightly oversized—you don’t want to look like you’re drowning in it.
They actually fit perfectly. I feel feminine, comfortable, and confident, which is a rarity for me.
And I couldn’t be happier. I wear them a few times a week, and they’re perfection.
But I’d happily die in the DISSH Paloma black ruffled slip.
Once you break them in, you’ll never take them off. Just push through the blister phase.
The platform gives me a fake sense of confidence, and honestly, they’re so comfy.
What does your wardrobe blueprint look like?
With love,
xx
